In the first regatta, with the 18-mile course from Rovinj to Pula that included immediately after the start the spectacular passage through the channel in front of the island of St. Katarina and sailing between the magnificent Brijuni Islands, star chefs, assisted by skippers and professional sailors, had to compete at the helm.
Taking home the victory was chef John Mark Nanit of Vetri (Murano-Venice) along with Stefano Fermanelli for La Subida (Gorizia) both aboard Dusan Puh‘s 60-foot Vallicelli Adriatic Europa.
“It was the first time for me,” said John Mark the Chef of Vetri di Murano, “at the helm of a sailboat. I thank the skipper at my side who gave me instructions for maneuvering and especially the charge to make it to the end!”
The race was held in weather conditions of very light winds that gave a distinct advantage to the best performing boats.
